Why Some Things Turn into Gold

What makes someone finally say, “Enough is enough, I want some of that! Why do they seem to get all their work done, do all the right things, have all the right successes, and it’s as though everything they touch turns to gold?”

Answer? They probably found their groove, and all that productivity is keeping their endorphin’s full steam ahead and thus multiplying their successes dramatically. Now, I’m glad it’s getting you mad enough to finally do something, but you have to stop comparing yourself to them because it’s going to get you nowhere.

Just take your understanding that you do want more and forget about what you’ve missed out on. Just know what’s important to you right now, and decide what you’re going to do next.

Once you do that thing that you need to do next, you’ve begun the process of turning things into gold. Just keep doing it!

Switch to Prosper

Sometime you just have to re-direct, and that’s okay.

I think many of us remain miserable when we don’t have to. Most of it is a choice. Sometimes we just have to make a decision and switch directions.

There is nothing wrong with switching directions as long as it’s not about escaping. Find something that excites you and make switching directions all about moving forward and into something prosperous. Then what used to make you miserable will drift away with time anyway.

Stop being miserable and start getting excited…  You are the one who carves that path set before you. Now go make a trail…

Water Your Ideas Too

I read this blog post by Tim Ferris about some fantastic ideas that took off and are grossing 300K+ a month, some much higher… These are start-ups, some who have never done this before that saw a need, got really excited about it, and just went after it.

When you look at success stories like these, it’s easy to get our minds thinking negative self doubting thoughts about what’s not possible. It’s easy to look at someone over there as though their sitting over their where the grass greener and I’m over here where the grass is not so green and that’s just the way it is.

They think, “Who am I to be able to come up with something like that?” And I think, “Who are you not?”

Ideas are everywhere, but those who choose to make them happen are not.

The only reason why the grass is greener over there is because that’s what you’re watering; as a friend once demonstrated that analogy one day while we were sitting down at a coffee shop. That was a perfect solution to one of the greatest clichés of our time!

We all have the ideas, the frustrations and the solutions sitting right in front of us. We just have to start watering our ideas too, not just theirs. It’s good to look at the success stories and think, and admire while taking learning lessons from them. But use that as a motivation to get you going and moving in the right direction; your direction…

Make the path! If we didn’t suffer from “Comparison Syndromes”, this wouldn’t be a problem. We would just get excited and think, “Wow, I’m going to do that too!”

And you can… There’s an opportunity right in front of you right now; a problem that needs solving and you are just the person to make that come to life.

What In The World Do You Want?

I saw a passing message by Brendon Burchard the other day that got my attention. I believe it was a response to a client of his, but it said something along the lines of:

“The reason nothing seems to work out for you is because due to your lack of discipline and self distractions, the world is unclear of what exactly it is you want.”

Forgive me if the wording is not exactly as he said, but that’s the general message.

Does your world know what you want? Do you even know what you want?

How can we ever achieve what we want if we don’t know what we want?

And just the same, how can the world deliver to us what we want, if we can’t give the world clear expectations of what we want?

Very powerful message here in that one simple little statement. We do tend to live up to what we expect but if we don’t have any expectations, or don’t provide any expectations what do we live up to?

Well, I think our history and “regret stories” from people have proven time and time again that if we don’t make it clear, and go after the life that we desire, then the world decides for us.

As a result, our life is based on the expectations of others and not our own!

Have you given yourself and this world clear direction as to what you really want?

The Power of Love and Compassion

It’s really hard to give an inspiring message after a day like yesterday at the Boston Marathon. I’m struggling to find words to inspire as sadness wants to overwhelm me.

However, regardless in the midst of everything, the darkness that’s evidently present and wants to destruct the face of the planet and our people, we’re reminded of how great the human spirit can be.

The countless people who by natural instinct showed genuine compassion and love for one another as they rushed tirelessly to each other’s aid, the many runners, even after they were exhausted from running the marathon made immediate instinctive decisions to do things like run to the nearby hospital and start donating blood, to run to the aid of bleeding victims to comfort and give whatever assistance they could, stories I heard where someone opened their restaurant to stranded runners and let people eat whatever they wanted, while a little girl makes baggies with hand written encouraging messages as she attempts to lift everyone’s spirit.

As a people, we were there for each other!

There’s an evident love that exists and we all have it, and we all have it for each other, and no matter what happens, no matter how hard we get hit, that love will always prevail and still come through and overpower any darkness.

Keep standing tall, keep fighting for what you believe in, and never ever give up.

Peachtree road race is coming up in Atlanta, and you better believe I’m running in it. I’m sure the enemy thinks that I and many others will back out of fear, but I don’t think so. From what I’ve heard and seen in reports about what happen yesterday, all the enemy did was make us stronger and bond tighter.

We’re shaken, we’re hurt, we’re stirred up and shocked, yes and many of us are in deep tears, but yet we’re reminded that love can never be defeated… Love will always prevail… always.

~Sincere condolences and prayers are lifted up for the victims and their families.

You Probably Don’t have just ONE Passion

This is what I’ve come to learn about passions. When I think of passions, I view it in two primary lights.

  • We have our ultimate passions that serve a purpose. This is what we’ll make great sacrifices to fulfill because we believe in it so much. Most likely its because we believe in someone or some group of people so much, because purpose is brought about from service to others. It’s a love that comes from the heart that cares deeply for another human being. Ultimately our relationships the primary drivers in our life and is probably the only thing we get to leave this world with. Think of all the greats who have made great sacrifices, even their own lives because of a passion that was driving them. And those passions always seem to come out of a love for other people. It was the heart for someone else that drove them.
  • The second light that I view this in can be likened to your bucket list. The things that you want to enjoy in life, or you do enjoy. The things you love to do, like painting or water skiing. It’s not necessarily out of a love for someone but some thing or some event. It’s a place you can always begin from when you don’t know that “One thing” passion that drives your entire life. You may not be ready for yours yet, or you have an entire different path all together.

Not everyone has to be a Mother Theresa, but everyone has the hope that they can at least strive or make it a goal to live life in the most exciting and adventurous way they can.

 ________________________________

And might I give a big thanks to things like the movie The Bucket List many people have a Bucket list now, and I know this because I always seem to run into people that mention something being on their Bucket List.

So, if people have Bucket Lists, I would venture to say that people know the things they want to get out of life, right?

It’s funny… So many people say that can’t find their passions, but yet so many people say they have a bucket list…

I think most people know their passions to tell you the truth, and I also think many people look upon their passions as just pipe dreams; things that only people on T.V. get to experience…

I’m always baffled when people say they don’t know what their passions, but yet I always hear people say they have a bucket list.

Being Real from the Heart

The Lizard brain, as Seth Godin puts it, is always trying to give me an illusion that something is too hard.

I was following a thread of someone’s experiment when out of the blue I noticed a comment from a general member that what he’s doing will never work. Nothing constructive; he just shut him down.

You know its one thing to be real but don’t shut down people’s moral in the process. This guy seems to be putting his heart and soul into his project, and any kind of criticism that would help should be constructive not dead-end.

Well, after the comment was responded to in detail, the commenter kindly digressed respectfully.

Wow, you know I’m thinking the comment was really unnecessary first of all. Many of the things we put out there are really unnecessary anyway and seemed to only satisfy the ego.

Not only does it affect that person, but the readers of the post as well. It’s a viral infection and it even put a negative spin in my own mind at the moment of reading.

What did that do for me? Well, it gave me the opportunity to write this, so there’s my positive spin on it. Ha! :)

Always remember that a simple dose of encouragement for someone’s efforts and for demonstrating passion, followed by constructive critiques will be appreciated far more and probably taken into deeper consideration.

Being real is a great thing, but even more so is being real from the heart.

What Can Change the Game?

There is no victory without struggle; without pain; without hurt. It’s out of the rubble where greatness is born.

We all go through our own type of trials, specific to each of us. If we look down deep enough, we each have a story to tell.

The ultimate question we’re going to have to always answer each day is this, “Will I let this rubble bury me, or will I stand on top of it?”

That decision is the game changer.

Excellence is the Cure

I think a lot of times we’re searching so hard to escape one thing, that we forget that our happiness can be achieved in how excellent we decide to do something, right now.

Take a look at your world now, and regardless of how rough things may appear to be, try to think about what can you still do with excellence… regardless.

Whenever you feel trapped, remember there is always something “excellent” you can do!

I think being excellent invites an excellent life…

“The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.” ~Vince Lombardi
