Unemployed for a Year; Now What?

Pic Credits: http://www.unemployedstateofmind.blogspot.com/

It’s very easy to come out of a job rut and into a whole new kind of rut. It’s the rut of non-productivity; a place where complacency can grab a hold of you and really take you away from reality and into an entire new sphere of lost hope and despair.

This place, many times resides right in your own home, and I’ve seen this far too often suck the life out of people.

What is it going to take for you to break away from the need of security, comfort, and complacency to grab a hold of a life that inspires you to no end?

Do you really want to spend the rest of your days not excited about the new day you’ve been given? What are you missing, what do you not know, what’s holding you back, and if you did you know would you catapult yourself to the next level?

What’s it going to take?

I challenge you to bring your mind to a vision of the earth with you sitting on the moon and just imagine how big this world really is and how ridiculous it is for you to choose staying put in that tiny little spot on earth, miserable, complacent, and just not knowing.

Opportunity exists at every given corner. There’s not a moment where there is not an opportunity and the question comes back to what are you doing to prepare yourself for each given moment.

Job searching, doing a résumé, sending letters, creating a marketing campaign, starting a business, and all that good stuff are only by-products of what inspires you. If you’re inspired, you’ll make those things happen!

Think hard; what can you be happy and inspired about doing and living out? What do you dream about, what are you good at, or want to be good at?

There are many applications that you can be happy and inspired about doing, but until you really step forward the doors will remain shut.

Opportunity comes to those who choose action. It’s out of deciding an active life, mentally, physically, and emotionally where inspiration starts to come alive and you will find yourself looking forward with great anticipation to each new given day.

Find out what inspires you, release the need for security and go after a life like your writing an adventurous story for generations to read.

This is YOUR Experience! Don’t spend it thinking you’re unemployed; that’s the talk of dependents.

You’re independent, and have greatness within.

Great article & very timely for where I am in my life!

Action is so key! The more we sit there waiting for something to happen the more complacent we become. Even taking the smallest step is inspiring! Great post Rob.

Sheryl, thanks… There’s always added hope to look forward to behind whatever’s timely… May this give you that extra boost you need to get to the next level. If there’s anything I can do let me know.

A single step opens the door to a choice in direction… Action is absolutely key! Thanks Ann…

Hello, Rob! Hey, I like the new look! And it is reading better. Whatever you’re doing, keep it up! Also, hoping your wife heals quickly. Best wishes,

Louise, thanks so much! That means a lot; your appreciation of the new look, your encouragement, and the blessings towards my wife… Thank you for being here, and I hope an amazing season is here with you now, or is unfolding into one.

How timely, Rob. I was just reading about St. Ignatius this morning and how the very beginning steps he described in getting close to God in your spiritual walk is to 1) Be Quiet and 2) Think about what REALLY makes you happy. He says this will help you figure out how God made you and what makes you come alive. Of course, once a person really discovers that and it burns in the belly – action will naturally occur.

By the way, I hope Nicholas had a great 1st day of school. Clarissa’s week is off to a good start. Nice to see you all and Cheryl walking too!

    Another great post Rob.
I really resonate with the unemployed line (even though I am employed). I see it as not considering myself as correctly employed. Knowing there is a better place for me — whether it is in the same company, a different company, or the first person in my own company, I am inspired to take the steps necessary to do something to move in the direction I would need to go, and pre-learn what I would need to learn to be suited for a position that would challenge me in all the right areas.

Competence often breeds contempt. We were born to challenge the status quo, change the things that we see are wrong, and charge ahead with life! If we’re not “charging” forward, then we’re draining the essence of our lives away.

Michael, I’m a little late replying to you here, but yes Nicholas is off to a great start and awesome to hear Clarissa is too! Man, that was really quick how we passed each other in the halls. I should have introduce you to Cheryl, but that was a lot traffic going on anyway, it may have been difficult…:-) Oh well, we’ll all get together soon…

But yes about the spiritual walk you mentioned, that’s so important to know… Being quiet and paying attention to the message in our hearts and we’ll feel the burn, the drive to make something happen!

Awesome you resonated with that Cam! You’re so on point here… Charging forward is our call so we can live out our lives and play the music that we’re called to play. We were born to challenge! Making waves should be our nature… That’s how we grow and become…
